Who to write to

"We" and "us" below mean TEF Trainer. One address reaches us: support@teftrainer.com, which is right for anything about the product, your access or your plan.

What TEF Trainer is, and is not

TEF Trainer is practice material for the TEF Canada exam: questions for listening and reading, topics with model answers for speaking and writing, and guides on how the exam is marked. It is a web application. Nothing is posted to you and nothing is installed.

It is a test preparation product and not an immigration advisor. CLB levels are set by IRCC, not by us. Check canada.ca for the requirement that applies to you: nothing here is immigration advice, and we cannot tell you which score your application needs.

We also do not promise a result. Practising here does not guarantee any particular score, CLB level or outcome of an application.

Using the free tier

144 questions and 32 topics are free, with every feature switched on, and no account or card is needed. Your answers are kept in your own browser until you sign in. Clearing your browser data clears them, and we cannot recover them for you.

Free quizzes for inviting friends

Each account has a link to share. When someone new signs up through it, you and they each get one unlock, which opens one of 6 extra listening and reading quizzes for good. An account can hold at most 6 unlocks. Only new accounts count. Unlocks have no cash value, cannot be moved to another account, and may be removed if they come from accounts made only to collect them.

Your account

Signing in uses your Google account. There is no password to set and none for us to lose. An account is for one person: do not share your sign in, and tell us if you think someone else is using it.

You sign in before you buy, and a plan belongs to the account that bought it. Checkout uses that account's email address. If a purchase ever lands on the wrong account, write to us and we will move it.

Plans, prices and billing

Prices are set in Canadian dollars. Some places are charged in their own currency instead: in the United States, US dollars; and in India, Indian rupees. Everywhere else is charged in Canadian dollars. Checkout shows the currency before you pay.

Sales tax, VAT or GST is worked out by Polar at checkout from where you are. Depending on the place it is either included in the price or added to it, and the total shown at checkout is what you pay.

The monthly plan renews each month until you cancel it, and you keep access to the end of the month you have paid for. The 3-month pass is a single payment and does not renew: access ends 3 months after you buy it, and there is nothing to cancel.

Payment is taken by Polar Software, Inc., which sells the plan to you as merchant of record. Polar is the seller named on your receipt and on your card statement, and it handles payment, invoicing and tax. We never see your card details.

Prices can change. A change never affects a payment you have already made.

Cancelling and refunds

Cancel a monthly plan whenever you like, from the customer portal linked in your receipt. Cancelling stops the next payment and leaves the time you have already paid for intact.

How you may use the material

The material on TEF Trainer is for your own exam preparation. You may read it, practise with it and take notes from it.

Please do not copy it out, republish it, sell it, share your access with other people, or download it in bulk, whether by hand or with a script or crawler. Do not try to reach paid material without paying for it.

We can suspend or close an account that does these things. If that happens because of something you did, we do not owe a refund for the rest of the term.

The TEF mark

TEF and TEF Canada are marks of CCI Paris Île-de-France. TEF Trainer is not affiliated with or endorsed by CCI Paris Île-de-France.

Availability

The site is served from Cloudflare's network, which is why there is no origin server of ours to fall over. We still cannot promise it is never unavailable: maintenance happens, and so do faults upstream of us. We do not offer an uptime guarantee.

We may change what the product does, add material or take material away. If a change removes something substantial from a plan you are paying for, write to us.

Our liability

TEF Trainer is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you for anything connected with it is limited to what you paid for TEF Trainer in the twelve months before the claim, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including an exam result or an immigration decision that did not go the way you hoped.

Nothing here limits rights you have under consumer protection law that cannot be limited.

Changes to these terms

We can change these terms. The date at the top of this page says when they last changed, and a change that matters to you will be told to you before it takes effect if we can reach you. Carrying on using the site after that means you accept the new version.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the laws of Canada that apply there, and the courts of Ontario have jurisdiction. Where the law of the place you live gives you rights that cannot be taken away, this does not take them away.
